Val Owen

Val Owen
Val Owen is a social worker who has worked with children, young people and families and especially foster families since 1989. She has worked at Y Bont since 1991 and is the Chief Executive. Val manages the charity and does some of the fostering and training work. She is a Companion and Trainer for the Seasons for Growth education programme.

Gwenan Gruffydd

Gwenan Gruffydd
Gwenan is a social worker who has worked with children and families since 1984. She has worked for Y Bont on different occasions since 1995 and has worked here full time since 2014. Gwenan works on the fostering and training side of Y Bont.

Maureen Japp

Maureen Japp
Maureen has been working with Y Bont as an associate Family Group Conferencing (FGC) co-ordinator since 1995 and she became a permanent member of staff in 2006. She is a qualified Family Group Meeting Co-ordinator, with a post graduate qualification in Family Group conferencing. She is a tutor and accredited trainer for the Family Rights Group FGC training and a member of the Family Rights Group National FGC Quality Assurance panel. Maureen is also a qualified mediator and counsellor. She is a trained Seasons for Growth Companion for the children and adult programme and an ESCAPE parenting course facilitator.

Angharad Williams

Angharad Williams
Angharad Williams began working for Y Bont in 2000 promoting young people’s voices within services in Gwynedd and worked on participation standards and rights for young people. Angharad now does Family Group Conferencing (CWLWM), Mediation, Inter Parental Conflict, Seasons for Growth and Counselling. She also organises and supports various parents’ groups as well as supporting individuals when needed.

Sandra Foxhall

Sandra Foxhall
Sandra Foxhall has been supporting children, young people and their families for over 25 years. She has worked for SNAP Cymru, specializing in the field of additional learning needs before moving to work for Y Bont in 2000 as a family group conference coordinator and mediator.

Mel Phillips

Mel Phillips
Melanie Phillips has been a Co-Ordinator at Y Bont for the past 6 years, working with children, young people and adults on the mediation project and family group conferences. She occasionally does some training courses for foster carers and has recently become a Companion for Seasons for Growth. She has worked in a variety of different fields including homelessness, domestic violence, youth work, direct payments, and community development.

Gwenan Hughes

Gwenan Hughes
Gwenan Hughes is an experienced counsellor having worked for many years as a school-based counsellor. Gwenan undertakes, counselling, family group conferencing and mediation. She is also a Seasons for Growth Companion.

Claire Owen

Claire Owen
Claire has worked in the support sector for many years, initially as a youth worker before moving on to work with homeless young people in a hostel and more recently as an independent housing worker for a local charity providing people of all ages support to prevent homelessness. Claire started working for Y Bont in August 2017 as a family coordinator and has recently trained as a season for growth companion.

Anwen Harman

Anwen Harman
Anwen has extensive experience of teaching children and young people with additional leaning needs. She works as a Family Group Conference coordinator.

Occassional Staff

Mandy Davies
Mandy is a qualified youth worker and has many years’ experience promoting children’s rights and participation. Mandy works as a Family Group Conference coordinator.

Iona Griffith
Iona is a Social Worker recently retired having worked in the field of children with disabilities for over 40 years. Iona has recently started working with Y Bont, asesing prospective Foster Carers and undertaking reviews of Foster Carers registration.

Paul Jones
Paul is an Independent Social Worker and has worked with children, young people and their families since 2005. He specialises in working therapeutically with children who have been exposed to trauma. Paul also works with male perpetrators of Domestic Abuse for various child protection agencies. Paul undertakes the Safeguarding training for Y Bont.

Non Davies
Non is an independent social worker that has worked for both council and voluntary agencies since 1984. Non chairs Fostering and adoption panel and established the North Wales Adoption Service and the National Fostering Framework. Non undertakes Safeguarding Training for Y Bont.
